Worldwide Services

Sander Geophysics Limited specializes in surveys using one or more of the following methods: magnetic total field, radiometric, gravity, and magnetic gradient. Surveys are performed using SGL specially modified fixed wing aircraft or helicopter, and immediate data processing is part of the standard quality control procedure, providing clients with rapid results for evaluation while the survey is in progress.

SVC / GRAV

Gravity (AIRGrav)

Gravity surveying measures variations in the earth gravitational field caused by density differences below the surface. SGL offers gravity surveying with its own Airborne Inertially Referenced Gravimeter, AIRGrav, the only purpose-built airborne gravimeter currently flying commercial surveys. It can be flown in an efficient light aircraft during normal daytime conditions, and easily combined with magnetic and radiometric instruments.

SVC / MAG-TF

Magnetic Total Field

Magnetic total field surveying measures variations in the earth magnetic field produced by magnetic minerals in the rocks below. It traces structure, dykes, faults and buried basement across forest, desert and water, and is routinely flown in combination with gravity and radiometric instruments to increase the survey benefits.

Measures: magnetic susceptibility

SVC / MAG-GR

Magnetic Gradient

Magnetic gradient surveying measures the rate of change of the magnetic field, sharpening the edges of magnetic bodies and resolving near surface detail that total field data alone can blur. SGL Caravans are modified to carry a triaxial magnetic gradiometer system; the current Nova Scotia survey is a magnetic gradient and radiometric program.

SVC / EM

Electromagnetic

Electromagnetic surveying induces currents in the ground and measures the response, mapping conductive bodies and resistivity with depth. The Twin Otters can be equipped with SGFEM, SGL four frequency domain electromagnetic system, with the transmitter and receiver carried in wingtip pods.

Measures: electrical conductivity

Gamma-ray Spectrometer

Gamma ray spectrometry measures natural radiation from potassium, uranium and thorium in the surface layer, mapping geology and alteration. SGL aircraft carry up to 63 litres of detector crystals. SGL also provides environmental monitoring services using gamma ray spectrometers and specialized processing to detect and quantify natural and anthropogenic radiation.

Measures: K / U / Th radioelements

SVC / CH4

Methane Mapping (SGMethane)

SGMethane provides accurate methane mapping and monitoring from the air, part of SGL environmental monitoring work alongside its gamma ray spectrometer services.

Measures: methane concentration

SVC / LIDAR

Scanning LiDAR

A digital elevation model (DEM) derived from SGL scanning LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) system, or a combination of radar and laser profiler data, is a standard product on all SGL surveys. The terrain model underpins terrain corrections and the final data products.

Survey block planner

What does a grid cost in line kilometres?

Every survey starts as a block and a line spacing. Enter the block size and the spacing the target needs, and the planner returns the flying the grid requires. Tie lines and transit flying are extra, and a real quote starts with a conversation.

Enter a block to see the line kilometres.

Formula: lines = floor(block height in m / spacing in m) + 1 · line km = lines x block width in km. Worked example at the defaults: 151 lines x 40 km = 6,040 line km. See also SGL helicopters on survey in Kuwait, on the services video.

Gravity is the flagship instrument

AIRGrav has its own page, with the performance table and a flown case study, because it is the system SGL is known for.
